Town of some 2,500 inhabitants of the province of Massa-Carrara. Mulazzo is famous for the discovery of the Statue Stele, rocks carved in Lunigiana from the age of Copper testify to the presence of man since ancient times.

From the thirteenth century, the territory has been subject to the Malaspina family and they say that the same Dante was hosted by a Mulazzo which Marquis were also cited in Comedy (singing VIII of purgatory).
